As you complete an item, mark it finished on the Item Tracker. This keeps the list honest — everyone can see at a glance what's done and what's still outstanding.
How to mark an item finished
Find the item in the list and flip its Finished indicator. That's it — the change takes effect right away, and the item's status updates for everyone looking at the tracker.
To un-finish an item (for example, if it was marked done by mistake), flip the same indicator back.
What happens when you finish an item
Marking an item finished does a few things behind the scenes:
Seeing only what's left
Pair this with the Item status filter:
Good to know
Finishing an item is not the same as printing its paperwork. They're tracked separately. An item can be finished but still need its order form or cake ticket printed — and vice versa.
If you finish an item and it vanishes from your list, that's expected when you're filtered to Unfinished. Switch the status filter to Finished or All to see it again.

What happens when you finish an item
Marking an item finished does a few things behind the scenes:
- Tiers and components come along. If the
item has sub-parts — like the individual tiers of a wedding cake —
they're all marked finished together. You don't have to check them off
one by one. - Inventory updates. Finishing an item records that it was made, so your inventory counts stay accurate.
- It's logged. The system keeps a record of who marked the item finished and when, so there's a trail if anyone needs to check later.
Seeing only what's left
Pair this with the Item status filter:
- Set item status to Unfinished to work from a shrinking to-do list — items disappear as you finish them.
- Set it to Finished to review what's already been completed for a date.
