Products in BakeSmart are the finished goods you sell to your customers. BakeSmart allows for six types of products. Standard Products, Combo Products, Custom Products, Tiered Custom Products, Gift Card/Non Sale, and Rental Products.

Standard Products

Standard products are products that are ready to sell to your customer. These can be products you make or even products you buy, like candles.

Note: Visit the article Titled How to Add A Standard Product in BakeSmart, to learn how to add a standard product.

In this article we will cover how to add Option Lists to a standard product.

Standard Products can be slightly customizable by adding Option lists.  For example a Turkey Bacon Avocado Sandwich with Sandwich Topping, Cheese and Bread Option Lists will allow your customers to customize their order and make sure your staff to gets the order correct.

How to Create an Option List

From BakeSmart's Home Screen click the menu bar in the top right corner, then click Lists, then Options.

This view is of all existing Option Lists.

To create a new one, click the Plus Sign in the top toolbar.

This will open the Product Option: Detail Screen. Add your new List's Name in the top left hand box, then the first offering in that list (example: List Name= Veggie, first offering = Mushroom).

Then click the small green plus sign in the field titled: All Options for (example)Veggie. This will clear the fields in the right section of the screen and you can enter the next offering in this list of options.

Also, this is where you can add any additional costs associated if the customer chooses that specific option. In this example choosing Hummus will result in a$1 upcharge to the cost of the product this list is used on.

Once all the options are added to the list, you can assign a "list type" to this list by clicking the small word "more" under the Name of the List. Choices for List Types are Decorations, Fillings, Flavor, Icing, Standard.

How to Assign an Option List to a Product

To assign an option list to a product go to the Product Detail page of the product you want to assign the option list (example: Egg Salad Sandwich). Then Click the Edit Button in the top toolbar. Then click the Settings Tab in the far left Column. Here you can select up to 5 option lists to assign to a product. You can also require the selection of an item from a specified option list by checking the “Selection Required” check box. If you do not click required, the sales team can bypass the option attached to the product when putting in an order.

Preselected Options

Once an option list, or multiple lists, are assigned to a product you can preselect options to be associated with your product. For example, If you have a signature sandwich that most customers want made the same you could preselect the options so the sandwich is built the signature way by default.

If the customer wishes to change a preselected option you can simply hit the void last item button to remove the preselected option.

Receipt Settings

Depending on the types of printers that are set up at the store ( Settings > Stores ) you can choose for the product to print to an additional printer when a transaction is completed. For example if you set a sandwich to print to a kitchen printer when the transaction is completed BakeSmart will automatically print a receipt to the designated kitchen printer so an employee at the café can begin making the product for the customer
